what i'm up to

Hey so i am making the transition to more of a doingmy own thing kinda deal with my employment. SCARY to say the least. i have faith everything is how it should b and will b well. so a little catch up. i have officially been vegan for 1 year as of 1/1/12...occasional slip on "bad" food i don't need anyway...namely sweets...arrrrrgh convenience is a demon. no flesh for 2 yrs at all as aof 4/8/12. chopped my hair into a mohawk and am now growing it out. got a mixture of blond and red going on...cuteness. let me see got a boyfriend, then a fiance, fiance dumped me 1/6/12 then 2 weeks later began his pursuit of getting me back, gave convo on 2/17/12, returned to his loving arms on 3/17/12...luck of the irish...lol. he really is a great, confused guy...seriously. wrote me a poem yesterday.

so i am studying to be a certified fitness trainer...woo hoo...lotta reading. when do i find the time...beats me but i do. took quizzes on 4 units today. scored 100% on 2 and 87.5% on the other 2...o well i passed. missed 1 question on the 2 that were not 100%.

took my first "true" shamanic journey on 4/8/12...fabulous fun. i learned my power animal....SNAKE...this is kinda funny due to a bit of childhood info i will have to share at another time. so yes i will be looking further into shamanism.

i am now also a certified meditation teacher, nondenominational ordained minister, lightbody activation practitioner (details to come), reiki master/practitioner, massage therapist and beginning my ascent into crystal healing.

i have 2.5 tattoos currently (one is just the outline right now). it will b gorgeous when it is complete. i have many more to get. let me tell u...tattoos on ur thigh are PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIN. work up to it.

so some of my future posts will include vegan experiences and photos of many things. follow me on here, like my page on facebook--www.facebook.com/ascendingsonam and check out my website---www.aflowingharmony.massagetherapy.com---for more info about services i offer and to make sure u don't miss a thing...until next time....peace...namaste

hi today

hi all, the journey continues........i met the most interesting individual over the weekend and yes there were some sharings. the yum yum (yes i said it) was beyond description. words can not even begin to describe the whole scenario. awesomely out of this world, divinely sanctioned is the closest verbal description i can come up with.......mmmmm the memories.

this friday is my test for teaching certification in QiGong level 1. do i feel prepared? uh no. my focus has been so not there and i am constantly so tired recently. but i gotta buckle down and focus cause i want this and i don't want to have wasted the money through my own fault.

hmmm...i believe this goes back to the yum yum......i had 2 people tell me i was glowing...wow
don't know what i did other than that. i have cut down on my coffee consumption though. 1-2 times per week versus daily sometimes twice.

a friend of mine jus told me he got his tongue pierced......wtf....i might have to get mine done now...i've thought about doing it often. just never took the leap.

hmmmm outta things for now, b back when there is more........

updates

Hey it's been a long minute. lots of changes. no more fiance'.....happy dance......finally shook off that energy. i feel so much freer, though there are a few things that still need to b changed, i just don't have the ammo i need in order to make those steps. hair is growing awesomely. i'm blonde now too.....yeeeeeeeeeah! loving the single life, enriching myself as much as i can. i just went to an awesome QiGong seminar. o my god if u have never done QiGong u have gotta try it. it is so liberating and empowering. i am so gonna have to get certified as a teacher, tho it is stressful because i don't know that i can remember all the steps i need to make it to certification. i guess if i don't get it the first time, i'll just try try try again.

i'm needing to take steps to enrich my personal business life, especially from an energy work perspective. i definitely feel the inspiration to teach and that is the avenue i feel i should go in. this QiGong certification would be a definite major step in the right direction. well we'll see.

i will upload pictures later and instill more info later....lunch is over.

updates

So, it's been a while since i posted...i get lazy. anyway so i've been veg for a lil over a month and it is going well tho it looks like i might need to start buying groceries (blech) in order to actually eat vegetables vs a whole bunch of carbs. i've cut my starbucks addiction down to once a week, Friday's only. i read somewhere that if your calorie intake goes below 1000 daily your body starts to gain weight well i think i might not be eating enough calories. i went from 215 to 220, dehydration and coffee drinking could be to blame also but i don't really know so i'm kind of experimenting. also limiting myself to one day of sugariness. my doctor would probably prefer no days but i'm still human. i will be doing measurements over weighing myself from now on, i will still weigh just not put too much stock in it. i can actually fit into regular people clothes (XL) so i must be doing something right (YEEEEEEEEEEEEAH).

So, i took my ex-boyfriend back on 4/24/10....became an official Buddhist on 4/25/10......got engaged to said boyfriend on 4/27/10.........wow what a whirlwind, let's see where it blows shall we.....................................stay tuned

update and what not

hello hello, so it goes as normal. i've been vegetarian for a little over 2 weeks now, no craving for meat tho i do think on it as it would be easier to eat some when i'm tryna shop for a meal....everything has it in it. other than that i have absolutely no desire for it. i do think my bodys lack of liking dairy is increasing.....uuuugh. i'm gonna try rice milk and see how that goes. interestingly enough, tho i'm "vegetarian" i've been loading up on carbs....lol so really i'm a carbetarian....tee hee. but seriously, gotta stop that. weighed myself and i gained 5 pounds (carb overload u think), granted i just ended the monthly terror, so mayb some left over bloat cuz boy did i bloat. will b focusing more on eating the veggies and fruits from here on out and looking past any terrorizing sweets....aaaaarh. also need to quit being lazy and get on that dang bike.

in other news, there has been a rekindling of passions with an ex-boyfriend.....yeah i know, save it, appreciate it but still save it. i feel it's the right thing and that's all that matters. if it works out....great....if not....at least we know. not an easy road for him but i'm not gonna block him either. just gon let things run their course. good man,,,bad choices.

today marks my first day as an official Buddhist. (APPLAUSE HERE). so i am on my path----watch out now. we shall see how this turn of events works into the job arena, especially in reference to the many things of a less than positive nature that have been hurled at me.

Well dearies, until next time.....live, laugh, love

decision

so i made the decision last night to stop going back and forth with this decision.....i'm going vegetarian. meat doesn't really add anything to meals for me, so no sense in taxing my body with the digestion of it. then of course all the harmful things that exist in it unless you buy it from a special company that does ethical practices. i don't look down at those that eat flesh, i believe everyone should be allowed to be themselves without judgement, but flesh has no place in my life any longer......that's all for now.

a cleansing/healthy journey

hello one and all. it's time to get serious about getting my body healthy, which will inevitably secure weight loss. basic plan is to increase the raw veggies and limit bread, red meat, sugar and dairy. not cutting anything out completely, well maybe the sugar. gotta get focused on finding the time to workout because generally it's good for everybody to get it movin. time to cleanse all the negativity out of my life in all ways, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, physically. so, starting weight is 215, let's see how much i can get rid of in a month. wish me luck.

upate--3/19/10

Hello Hello

it's been one of those months already. First, the good news....I'm going to be officially initiated into Buddhism on April 25th, so excited. i honestly feel this is my proper path and the start of something great.

less than good.... so the boyfriend who i've adored for many months now has done the flip and change. once attentive and caring, vibing on the same level has turned into self-centered, selfish, inattentive, withdrawn and no connectivity at all. i'm being spoken to on many different levels about the RED flags that i usually dismiss. i'm learning. it's hard to give up what u feel so sure about and desire. i love the light in him but it has disappeared at least in terms of the "us" of it. everything indicates a lack of interest on his part. what a difference a few weeks make. the first hint was in december on my birthday and new year's eve, but of course i dismissed those events, had anger yes but i moved through them cuz the good outweighed the negative. All i'm getting is negative now. how many people, especially when they are with the one's they claim to love, will put on head phones while watching a movie because they are disturbed by the scene? instead of just asking for it to be fast forwarded.

then of course everything that is brought to their attention they turn around on the other person instead of actually listening and possibly acknowledging their role in the problem.
then u go practically a week without contacting the "one you love" and can't give an explanation as to why this is, even though you apparently had the capability. so sad. i really would've never pegged this guy for being this type. if i wanted to be mistreated like this and have to question everything, i could've stayed in my previous relationship of 2 yrs. this is just way too much for my sensitive heart to endure. i'm tired. my blood pressure is higher than it should be. i rather be alone. it's lonely, but considering the actions that have occurred recently....what is the real difference....

lighter subject---

i've been reconnecting with so many cool people. Facebook is awesome. glad my brother convinced me to get on it. tho i am addicted to mafia wars and yes Facebook. kinda voyeuristic i think. but i'm not hurting anyone that i know of.

my hair has some movement now, even when it's dry. only in certain parts though.

my homie is starting a cool new site and he wants me to be the writer on it.....waaaaaay cool.
he's a smart guy with big dreams and the will and way to get there. i support him 100%.

that's all i got for now......NAMASTE

Hey! An Update.

So it's been a while since I've written. I have been lazy about keeping up with this. This month on the 9th will make a whole year since I did the big chop. As you can see from the profile picture.....there has been growth. I took that picture at 10 months. My life has been in somewhat of a whirlwind. I have found the most amazing man......YEEEEEEEAH........I've decided to resume my business (massage and spa) with the addition of jewelry and candles (as soon as I can figure out the making process). I have learned some very inspiring and powerful meditation techniques, thanks to my boo. I am in a much better place now, mentally, spiritually and emotionally (working on the physical). Learning to love me, flaws and all. This is a new year and I'm letting go of all the ick from the past ones. Trying new things. Right now my new things I wanna do are----get a tattoo (very first), get acupuncture, I've already tried sushi (the cooked kind) at this great place called HIMITSU in Auburn, Washington. You should check it out if you are in the area. I'm slowly learning to not apply logic to illogical situations, makes life much easier.

I found out a disturbing bit of info today. Someone I would have thought was fairly trustworthy is.......2-faced as the day is long.......I don't normally put much past most people but this individual would seem fairly genuine especially in the arena of the situation at hand. Just goes to show, sometimes a snake can be a chameleon too.

Something That Bugs Me

Good day my brothers and sisters....Happy Mother's Day to all the moms, grandma's, dad's who play the mom role and you pet owners cuz you know those animals are like children to you.
I just got through talking to my mother and she hit upon something that has been bugging me for a long time now. You know we look to the medical industry to aid in keeping us healthy, mostly by giving us information that will help us. It is appalling to me how this just does not happen. It seems as if there are very few doctors that really care about the people they are supposed to be serving. They just want to push the latest drug down your throat or cut you open with the latest surgical technique rather than actually solving whatever the true problem is. Take me for example, I have known that I have high cholesterol since I was 23, no one seemed too concerned about it at that time (HMMMMMM seems like a good time to get me pointed in the right direction .... don't you think), but as soon as another medical issu comes up, they are leaping all over themselves to convince me to take cholesterol meds (which are horrible---yahoo or google them and read the side effects....YUCK!!!!!). I consistently refused to accept these drugs. I suggested to a medical doctor once about trying natural methods for 3 months to see how that would work, needless to say I was met with a lot of attitude. What did she have to lose by allowing me to try that and see how it went???? A payday from the pharmacuetical company, that's what (that's a topic for another blog though). Anyway, I now go to a Naturopathic Doctor. With these individuals it's all about trying natural rememdies first and drugs lastly, if necessary. Not once has this doctor mentioned cholesterol drugs. After my first test with her came back high, she remarked that if she didn't see much change in the next one, she had a supplement she wanted me to try----a supplement people, not a drug---there are a ton of natural remedies for most ailments out there but most doctors don't take the time to explore them. Needless to say on my next test, 2 out of the 3 cholesterol related areas tested were within normal range (no supplement or DRUGS!!!). I just focused more on what I was putting in my body. Amazing things happen when you stop believing what you are told and start your own research.
That brings me back to the topic my mom touched on today----birth control and antibiotics. Did you know that antibiotics render your birth control ineffective during the time you are on them and up to 48 hours after your last dose? They do. Did you know that oral contraceptives inhibit certain necessary nutrients from entering the body in the way they are supposed to? They do that too, take your supplements people, the health food section kind, not the stuff in the middle aisle (centrum, one a day, etc. do very little except sit in your stomach).
Our food ---OH LORD---that's a blog all unto itself. I'm just gonna leave you with this for now.....limit how much you eat from a package---frozen or otherwise. Raw vegetables and fruit do you the most good.
For excellent mental enrichment check out www.undergroundwellness.com, the individual is also on youtube---this brother is spittin major knowledge. He is a licensed, educated professional. I believe he also has a radio program on blogtalkradio. I am very impressed with him and believe me i don't get impressed easily. Keep it healthy and happy brothers and sisters................educate yourselves, cuz ain't nobody else gonna do it for you.................much love, peace and blessings

WOOHOO

Today begins my mini-vacation. Too much drama in the workplace, I'm seriously getting to the point of no return. I have several little mental safety strategically placed throughout the year and this one could not have come at a better time. Mental health is just as important for hair health as products and techniques are. I'm gonna enjoy this time off so much, I might not even answer my phone or leave the house. Have a great weekend and remember to take time out for yourself....always.

o the horror

i saw a blog stating that Suave may be discontinued!!!!!.....how horrible.....what will i use for conditioner. i looked through the other options and was not impressed....to say the least. now of course the area where this seemed to be happening was outside of the U.S. and that may have something to do with it. i mean if the parent company for this brand was in trouble, it would seem reasonable that they would cut shipment outside of the states. i checked my closest store that sales this brand and it was there;actually in bigger bottles. the store mentioned in the blog, that no longer had Suave, was Wal-Mart. There is a possibility that they may have discontinued their distribution relationship. i recall Kmart putting Isoplus Wrap Lotion on clearance, which is a big sign that it won't be there anymore, but when i checked the parent company's website it had several stores listed where the product could be purchased----Kmart was not in the list. i'm crossing my fingers that it won't go anywhere but this a call to action for me-----stock up, stock up, stock up.
.................................................I'm Out.......................................................................................................

SEEING A DIFFERENCE

Okay, my hair is curling differently than it normally does following my little switch up in routine (co-wash then Suave for DT). The curls are not clumping the same. The clump is not as undeniably strong. I get curls, just not without product;like I normally would. I don't know if mybe I manipulated the hair a little more than normal in the shower or what. Well I'm gonna give it another go next week and see what happens. I may have to switch back to my normal DT.

Changed a couple things today

So, I've made the decision to try just co-washing and conditioning instead of using the soap once a week on my hair. So on deep condition days (which I might bump up to twice a week) I will do a co-wash and then apply a deep conditioner. Now on the topic of the deep conditioner, I think I have decided to try just using my Suave conditioner as the deep conditioner for a while. I have used it this way before with outstanding results. We'll see what happens with that. I have the conditioner on my head right now doing a deep conditioning. The co-wash was interesting. My hair seemed fuller and slick when I got out the shower. This could be a majorly positive sign as my hair needs tons of moisture. As always I will keep you posted.

WHY WHY WHY

Why is it we sabotage ourselves despite the best intentions? This boggles my mind time after time. I know what to do to lose weight and I start but I stop, WHY!!!!!!! I have a medical issue that prevents me from consuming certain things (or at least on a regular basis) but then I go ahead and get sloppy with my slight amount of discipline on the subject, even though I know it could be very detrimental for me. I do not know why I abuse myself in such a manner. I wish I wish someone could slap me upside the head and give me a clue. Maybe then I would stop.

Pre-Poo

Hi all.....hope everyone is having one curly success after another. Well i've seen so much from other people about doing pre-poo treatments, i decided to try it myself. Today is shampoo day (so to speak) so i wet my hair really well then applied my suave conditioner and allowed it to set on my hair for a little bit before rinsing it out and using my castille soap. my hair did feel different. quite difficult to describe the feeling (not a bad thing though). then i applied the deep treatment and i'm sitting here melting right now. we'll see if the pre-poo made any major differences. i'm going to try it a couple more times and report back on my progress.
that's all for now curlies.....

New Product Mix

Something inspired me to try the long aid activator gel again....and mix it with my softee gel (clean and clear). I LOVE THIS MIXTURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I get the curl action of both without the overapplication of either. No greasiness from the activator gel (Love This). I can run my hands across my curls without losing them......yeah yeah yeah. I have done this mix for 2 days so far and it is wonderful. I can't wait until my hair gets longer.

SHAKING THINGS UP A LITTLE PART 2

I forgot to mention in the last post that I added baking soda to my deep conditioning mixture as well. As I rinsed out the deep conditioning mixture I noticed a lot of lumps and bumps all over my head (except in this one area on my right side in the upper back crownish area and in the very middle back at the bottom....they seemed to be more straight!!!!!!!). I think I may have a 4th type of hair in my head (possible 3A anyone). I notice this straightness in these areas when I wet my hair on any day so I know it has nothing directly to do with the deep conditioner. Okay so the results....(drum roll please)....pictures are better than words:

As you can see I have all these wonderful clumps of curls right out of the shower with no product. I will be glad when my hair grows out, specifically in the top, so that I don't look like I have a ton of baldspots (or maybe I do....arrrrrgh!!!!!). You never know, I think relaxer chemicals halt the growth of hair in the follicles (could be why hair always seems to wind up so thin after a few months of being relaxed. Well this time I remembered to take pictures....yeah!!! Until next time,,,stay curly stay happy.

SHAKIN THINGS UP A LITTLE

I have tweaked my deep conditioner yet again. This time I did a way with the yogurt and didn't add any coffee. Here is what is on my head right now.....suave lavender and lilac conditioner(my hair loves it), neem oil (kinda smells like coffee), hemp oil, palm oil, shea butter, aloe vera gel, coconut oil, olive oil, eo's (tea tree, peppermint, eucalyptus, rosemary, lavender), castor oil and ground oatmeal for thickening. I just wrap my head in plastic wrap and allow my body heat do the rest. It's starting to melt now (been about 2 hours). I figure if I want protein conditioner I'll add an egg...there's protein in my gel anyway. I'll try and remember to take pictures when I rinse it out ( I always forget that part). I should've taken pictures after I washed with the castille soap....how much my hair must love it to clump up in curls after just having that on it...no conditioner or anything. Stay tuned my curlies for the dramatic results....lol.........

About Me

My photo
